After a long day that began with an insurgent ambush and continued through hours of hit-and-run fighting, a Marine with Golf Co., 2/5 inspects a car driven by man shot to death as he sped through deserted streets towards the Marines?parked vehicles in Ramadi on Jan. 20, 2005. Marines said the man failed to respond to warning shots or flares. A search of the car turned up a ringing cell phone but no weapons or explosives. This happens all to often in Iraq when drivers fail to stop and U.S. forces don? hesitate to shoot ?barely avoidable deaths from which no one benefits.
